Grinds/Homework Club
Weekly grinds on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. The subjects include Junior Cert and Leaving Cert Maths and Irish and Leaving Cert Biology, to asylum seeking/refugee/migrant youth at the Cork Migrant Centre by volunteers from UCC and CIT.
Creative Workshops [spoken word]
We run creative workshop headed by mentors such as Raphael Olympio. The workshops aim to get young people thinking about the society around them while enhancing music and creative writing skills. They promote advocacy and activist through creative arts with specific aims at enhancing self-esteem and self-confidence.
Drama workshops
This program began during Covid via zoom in collaboration with University College Cork: Young people meet on Friday afternoons to engage in various skills and activities around theatre and drama. Aim to build confidence and explore means of expressions and activist.
Young Printmakers
Project in collaboration with Cork Printmakers in Cork city. This projects include 8 young people training in a number of creative techniques over 3 a years period. The training involves, lino printing, screen printing, typography, etching etc. The collective was set up following on from the impact of the creative work of the Cork Migrant Centre Youth Initiative at Nano Nagle Place.
Hip-hop and creative workshops
Pre-covid restrictions, this group met on a weekly basis at the CMC to engage in hip-hop and other forms of dance headed by Andrea Williams.
Girls in Stem programme
This program is in collaboration with Teen-Turn Ireland. Through this program, our girls have been involved in national projects such as BT Young Scientist, Technology Innovation, Project squad and Technovation. Through Girls in Stem Program, they have engaged in summer work placements in Tech companies in Cork giving them an opportunity to imagine their future selves in similar work environments.
Art Classes
In collaboration with the Crawford Art Gallery, young people under the age of 10 years old meet every Saturday via zoom with facilitators coming together to learn new techniques and creative skills. Yearly Summer Camp Creative Projects

CMC Youth Initiative Against Racism
The Cork Migrant Centre Youth Initiative Against Racist was formed in June 2020 in response to the murder of George Floyd in the United States, to raise awareness of the impact of systemic racism that exist around the world including in the Irish society.
