African Garden Egg (African Eggplant / Solanum species) — sometimes also called bitter tomato, Ethiopian eggplant, or garden egg. 🌱🍆



Here’s some information about it:



✅ What it is


• It’s a type of eggplant, but smaller and rounder than the purple variety.


• It can be white, green, yellow, or striped, depending on the variety.


• Very common in African and Asian cooking.



🌿 Nutrition


• Low in calories and high in fiber.


• Contains vitamins A, B, and C.


• Rich in minerals like calcium, potassium, and iron.


• Good for digestion and heart health.



🍲 Cooking & Uses


• Can be eaten raw (though slightly bitter).


• Often boiled, steamed, or fried.


• Used in stews, curries, and sauces.


• In some cultures, it’s also eaten fresh with groundnut paste.Nothing beats the taste of homegrown food! 💚
